Edinburgh Fringe Tour

26 August 2022 @ 8:00 am 29 August 2022 @ 5:00 pm

The Great Yorkshire Chorus are performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

You’ve got five opportunities to see us:

The Great Yorkshire Chorus is one of the most exciting and progressive community choirs in the North of England. They have an ethos of high creative achievement, inclusivity, and fun!

In August 2022 the choir is travelling to perform at the world-class Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our singers and we are so excited to represent Yorkshire and Bradford at this amazing event. GYC members going on the tour will cover most of the cost themselves. But we are committed to including everyone who wants to go on this incredible adventure; that lack of funds will not be a barrier to participation.

This fundraising campaign will allow us to subsidise the tour costs, making it affordable for all choir members to participate. In particular, we will offer partially and fully funded places to those who really need them.

The Great Yorkshire Chorus was founded in 2018 in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, by director Maria Mullin. A new, exciting choir for the region, the group has gone from strength to strength. With their original arrangements of pop, rock, folk, and gospel music, the choir has delighted audiences with their energy, spirit, and high calibre vocals. Performance highlights include St George’s Hall (Bradford), the Piece Hall (Halifax), TEDx, BBC Radio, and the 2022 Yorkshire Awards.

The Great Yorkshire Chorus is hugely proud of where they come from and can’t wait to represent our region to the world at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2022. They will be performing concerts at the prestigious Greyfriars Kirk and Canongate Kirk venues, as well as a number of outdoor performances around the city during the festival.

This choir believes that everyone has a valuable voice. There are no auditions to join and many members have found their singing voices by becoming part of the Great Yorkshire Chorus family. They believe that everyone should aim high, work together, and great things will follow! That’s why we decided to go to the Fringe!

The choir is made up of many ordinary people – granddads, mums, friends, brothers, teachers, pharmacists, keen cyclists, council workers, and gardeners. We even have three generations from one family!

We are just normal people. But together we become something special and extraordinary. So – please help us make a big dream come true, and send us to the Fringe!
